As a FlexTech Chair University Professor, he conducts interdisciplinary research and teaching activities that apply complexity science and cognitive engineering to humanize technology and enable human-centered design in the virtual and real worlds.
He is also a Fellow of the Air and Space Academy, the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), and the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), where he contributes to the advancement of the disciplines of aeronautics, astronautics, and systems engineering, respectively.
He has published multiple books and papers on tangible interactive systems, systems of systems, automation, information visualization, and user research.
He is passionate about exploring and discussing cutting-edge issues in aerospace research and technology and providing direction and guidance for the non-military uses of space and the ongoing solar system exploration.
